Why Elections Matter
The sad fact is that many people do not vote. Senate and European Parliament elections are the worst in this regard. Many people claim that elections are totally unimportant and unnecessary. However, this is not the case. In fact, elections are the most important thing in our lives.

We must remember that elections are, in essence, the only legitimate way to express our views and show the direction this country should go. And if a candidate does not deliver on his or her promises, we simply will not vote for that candidate next time. In other words, it is not just about choosing a candidate, it is essentially an exploration of what people actually want.
Of course, the situation is not so rosy. Politicians, especially before elections, try to influence public opinion in various ways so that people will vote in their favor. Tactics such as slandering opponents or emphasizing less pressing issues to divert attention from other, more serious issues are common.

Still, this does not mean that one must be turned off by these tactics. Every political party publishes on its website the programs it would like to implement if elected. Nothing prevents us from looking at them and assessing the degree to which we agree or disagree. There are also various election calculation tools that show which politicians we are most in favor of. These are also worth using.
The fact is that elections are important. Otherwise, politicians would not spend millions of dollars on campaigns that may or may not work. They also often hire marketing psychologists and other experts to help them run them. Because they know very well how important literally every single vote is and how much they want it for themselves.
So we should not underestimate elections. Because together we have more power than we think, and we can influence the history of our country.
